Los Angeles architects create custom cat houses

The advocacy group Architects for Animals cites Mahatma Gandi’s quote: “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” In an initiative they are calling Giving Shelter, the group commissioned 12 Los Angeles based architects to design and construct cat homes which would then be auctioned to raise funds.

Participating design firms include Standard Architecture Design, Perkins & Will, Lehrer Architects, Formation Association, Knowhow Shop, RNL, Pfeiffer Partners Architects, HOK, CallisonRTKL, Warren Office + Schmidt Designs, DSH// architecture, and Abramson Teiger Architects, who won the People’s Choice award for their “Cat Bowl” piece that used a fish bowl form for its cat house.
