Model Mara Martin has been in the headlines lately, after nursing her baby on the catwalk as part of a Sports Illustrated swimsuit show. The happening, which was described as a spur-of-the moment thing, has been hailed as ’empowering’ and ‘inspirational’ by many media outlets, and Mara herself wrote on Instagram: “I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women CAN DO IT ALL!”
Predictably however, not everyone was impressed. Amonsgt the outpourings of positivity and respect there have been a number of critical voices offering up a range of grievances, as well as the usual trolls who are just there to spread hate. One commentator, who identified herself as Mara’s best friend, wasn’t having any of the hate however, and delivered a quite stunning response, full of love and respect for her friend’s actions.
