Initially conceived in the premises of giving free education, the Free School of Architecture has grown from 16-20 students to over 20 students and teachers. According to Peter Zellner, the school’s founder, “the Free School of Architecture has expanded well beyond our initial projections of 16-20 students and Faculty and as a result, has had to look for a larger and more suitable home.”

Being one of the most important urban renewal projects located in the heart of Los Angeles, The Container Yard is a 6,000 square feet campus with exciting indoor and outdoor spaces made to pique the interest of artists, architects, and enthusiasts alike. The free school has launched with an initial symposium about the future of architectural education and will continue on with a variety of topics such as post-digital and post-studio education.
