Koster is a new range of outdoor chairs and tables by Studio Norrlandet for Swedish brand Skargaarden. While indoor furniture can balance between aesthetics and utility, outdoor furniture requires the functionality of the pieces to fulfill high standards, withstanding anything from heavy winds, torrential rain, and even extreme temperatures.
The Koster Collection was born as a testament to achieving these standards, matched with a name inspired by the extreme weather conditions of the Koster Islands. While minimal in design, the pieces – constructed mainly of teak – are able to withstand the most demanding durability specifications and load tests.
Jari Visuri, Founder and CEO of Skargaarden states: “The idea for this series started because we lacked chairs and tables that lived up to what we needed in our own garden. We were looking for a comfy, uncomplicated, beautiful and simple design. Chairs that are easy to sit in – even when you have a lot of chairs close together around the table. We wanted something so durable so that they can remain outside year-round.”
