Designed by Salvador Rodríguez in 2017 for W Foundry, the Sonny Gothic font family is deeply inspired by the graphic style of logos and typefaces from the 1970s. The work on Sonny Gothic started by creating a clean, geometrical typeface with modern caps proportions. In a next step, Salvador Rodríguez and his team combined these modern proportions with some stylish caps ligatures known from the 1970s. The full family consists of 36 fonts including a basic and a condensed versions. Each version includes 9 weights ranging from Thin to Ultra Black plus matching Italics for all weights. Furthermore, Sonny Gothic is equipped with lots of OpenType features such as alternate characters, ligatures, fractions, special numbers, and arrows. The extensive character set supports multiple languages. Sonny Gothic’s stylish look is a great choice for such a huge variety of graphic design applications.
