Artist Bea Fremderman, recently installed a set of works at the Springsteen Gallery in Baltimore for an exhibition called Machine in the Garden. Using found clothing items and then growing sprouts into the fabric, the living artworks hang on the clothes line like dirty laundry. Fremderman is currently based in NYC after finishing her BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The artist seeks tor represent hoe despite all odds, nature prevails.  In an interview, the artist says, “When I first moved to New York I was really taken aback by these trees in Bedstuy near my studio that had grown through a wrought iron fence. The tree just kept growing around this man-made object as if it wasn’t there. That image has stuck with me.”
