The Path of Nature: Collecting Off the Beaten Path

Collector Wheelock Whitney discusses interest in art collecting, his acquisition history, and his travels in his February 10, 2013 Sunday at the Met talk “Collecting Off the Beaten Path.” Whitney focused on collecting French landscape paintings at a time when few others were, which allowed him to build a unique group of artwork that is now the focus of an exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The exhibition The Path of Nature: French Paintings from the Wheelock Whitney Collection, 1785–1850 is on view January 22–April 21, 2013 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
