Toddler/mother collaborative drawings produce goofy fantasy creatures

When four-year-old Myla asked if she could draw in her mother’s new sketchbook, Mica Hendricks could have just said ‘no.’ However, she decided to lay the inner-artist aside, allowing the inner-mother to say ‘yes,’ which lead to this compelling series of mother-daughter collaborative drawings.

Hendricks, who works as an illustrator and graphic designer, draws the detailed faces, where Myla takes a lighter line-drawing approach to the body. Then Hendricks goes back and finishes the drawing with acrylic paint. The pairing of these two drastic styles is what makes these images so brilliant. Hendricks’ project to independently publish a book of her and Myla’s drawings was recently funded through a Kickstarter campaign.
