After one of the worst fires in America, photographer Jeremy Cowart made a project in order to honor, help, and gave a voice to those who lost their homes in Gatlinburg. More than 2.000 houses and businesses were destroyed in the fire. Jeremy made powerful portraits by setting a simple white mattress in the middle of the rubble of their homes. Cowart beautifully captures these families as they sit in what was one a bedroom, but today is nothing but a burned ground and ashes. For more photos and more about the project click here.
