WWII-era photos re-taken today for fascinating comparison

A Reddit user who goes by the name MisterBrick has recreated a number of old photographs from World War II that were taken in his hometown of Dijon, France, located in the eastern part of the country.

“Last summer, I found a lot of WWII pictures of my city of Dijon, France,” he wrote on Reddit. “I decided to re-take them as closely as possible, after a 70 year timespan.”

Dijon is home of the Dijon Air Base, a front-line French Air Force NATO air base. During WWII, the base was attacked by the Luftwaffe (the aerial warfare branch of the German armed forces from 1935 to 1946) during the Battle of France on multiple occasions.
