They worked very close to produce a limited edition screenprint: Zahira, a woman with veil, who give us an opportunity to reflect on current highly debated issues such as integration, human rights and diversity.
It’s a five layers hand pulled screenprint on 100% cotton paper, size 50x70cm, edition of 25 and it will be released on their online webstore on 8th March. As they tell us:
We believe, today more than ever, how important it is to remember the efforts made, over the years, to obtain this declaration and we want to remember it, above all, on a special day as today, Women’s Day. We would like to pay tribute to the beauty and importance of women in every part of the world with this limited-edition, numbered and signed serigraph, entitled ZAHIRA.
The project is not only the return of an artist residency, it is also the first collaboration to support Ozanam house, a former industrial building located in the Borgo Dora district (Turin), transformed into a reality for the promotion of social interventions and projects .
During the artist’s residency they spent a lot of time discussing about human rights and so they give a tribute to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by adding a copy for free to anyone who will buy the print. It is a playback of the original Manifesto, a very important actual reading.
The profit will be donated to the APP association (Association Pakistan Piedmont) to sponsor an Italian language course for Pakistan women.
A special thanks to the ERI association (European Research Institute) that takes care of the hospitality work for immigrants at the Via Foligno, Casa Ozanam – Turin, Italy.
